Offset what you cannot yet reduce
Offsetting is the last step, not the first
Offsetting means funding verified carbon reductions or removals elsewhere to balance the emissions you cannot yet eliminate. It belongs at the end of the mitigation hierarchy, after you have measured your footprint and cut everything practical. Used that way it is a legitimate tool for genuinely residual emissions. Used as a shortcut, it is greenwash. We help you offset the right amount, with high-integrity credits, once the reduction work is done.
What makes an offset credible
Not all carbon credits are equal. The ones worth buying share four qualities: additionality (the reduction would not have happened without the funding), permanence (the carbon stays locked away), independent verification, and no double counting. Cheap credits often fail one or more of these tests, which is why quality matters far more than price.
There is a growing consensus that credible, net-zero-aligned offsetting means shifting over time towards carbon removal and long-lived storage, rather than relying on avoidance credits alone. That thinking is captured in the Oxford Offsetting Principles, which we explain on our standards page.
We do not sell credits ourselves. Instead we work with carbon-removal specialists Klimate and Fenix Carbon, who source, vet and monitor independently verified projects, so you get access to high-quality removals and full transparency without the guesswork. We will never promise a particular project or price up front; the right portfolio depends on your footprint and your goals. Before you offset, make sure you have worked through measuring and reducing your emissions first.
Should we offset before reducing?
No. Offsetting comes last in the mitigation hierarchy, after you have measured your footprint and cut what you can. It is for the residual emissions you cannot yet eliminate, not a substitute for reducing them.
What makes a carbon credit high-integrity?
The essentials are additionality (the reduction would not have happened anyway), permanence (the carbon stays out of the atmosphere), independent verification, and no double counting. We steer clients towards credits that meet these tests.
Who are your offsetting partners?
We work with carbon-removal specialists Klimate and Fenix Carbon, who source and vet independently verified projects. That lets us guide you to credible removals without acting as a broker ourselves.
What are the Oxford Offsetting Principles?
A widely cited framework for credible net-zero-aligned offsetting: cut emissions first, shift towards carbon removal and long-lived storage over time, and use high-quality credits. We explain them in more depth on our standards page.
Offset responsibly, once you have reduced
Measured your footprint and cut what you can? We will help you neutralise the rest with credits that stand up to scrutiny.
Our offset partners
Once your accounting and reduction work is done, we partner with carbon-removal specialists to help credibly neutralise your unavoidable emissions through certified projects. You can meet all of them, including Klimate and Fenix Carbon, on our offset partners page.

Klimate sources, analyses, and finances carbon removal projects from all over the world to support and scale the best solutions. Klimate’s portfolios include various carbon removal methods, from planting trees in a forest to more complex Direct Air Capture projects.
