Tree planting and the Clean Development Mechanism

Carbon Managers support tree planting here in the UK.

The UN backed clean development mechanism (CDM) does not make provision for UK based tree planting schemes. This is because the UK government claims all trees growing in the UK as its own contribution to national targets.

We believe the benefits of tree planting as a readily understood eco action outweigh the lack of approval status that is not relevant for voluntary offsets (VERs).

We have carried out our own research that supports our positive view of tree planting and note the considerable benefits beyond CO2 sequestration that trees deliver to the environment.
