Wildscreen 2010 Film Festival Booking Opens
11 June 2010
One of the 2008 Award winners: Bama's Journey
A lovely biannual event is the
Wildscreen Film Festival held in Bristol which celebrates wildlife
and environmental filmmaking. Founded by Sir Peter Scott in 1982 its
aim is to celebrate, applaud and encourage excellence, and
responsibility - films which increase the global viewing public's
understanding of the natural world, and the need to conserve it.
This year's festival will run from Sunday 10th - Friday 15th October
2010.
There is a week-long programme of
screenings, debates, keynote lectures, workshops, masterclasses and
networking events. In addition, the Festival is a crucial
marketplace, where films are bought and sold, where new commissions
and contracts are awarded and where fresh ideas and skills are
traded.
Watershed Centre in Bristol
2006 saw Wildscreen return to the newly
renovated Watershed Centre in Bristol, where they had exclusive use
of all their facilities, including three state-of-the-art cinemas -
allowing them to show more films and hosted screenings than ever
before.
All core Festival events took place under one roof.
The delegate café lounge was at the heart of the Watershed with the
cinemas, Festival auditorium and trade show situated at either end of
the building and this will be the same in 2010.
